Alaska Fishing - Flying Into Alaskan Wilds Fulfills Fishing Fantasies

Thursday, May 29th, 2008

By Rika Susan Alaska fishing has a way of exceeding your wildest fishing expectations in a most spectacular fashion. Whatever fishing passion you have, be it saltwater, freshwater, ice fishing, or fly fishing, Alaska fishing has the lakes, rivers, and streams to turn your fishing fantasies into measurable reality. More than 600 fish species populate the waters that has made an Alaska fishing expedition such a sought after experience. One of the most renowned fishing areas to explore is the Kenai river. This is where your main course of a mega-monster King Salmon is waiting for you… For dessert you are presented with a choice of silvers, red salmon, Rainbow Trout, and Dolly Varden. If the season is right, and you are up to the challenge, Silver Salmon will give you the opportunity to hone your fishing techniques, adding spice to tall fishing tales… From early August to the end of September, Silver Salmon thrills Alaska fishing fans in both the lower and upper sections of the Kenai. Guides in the area are experts in powerboating, backtrolling, casting spinners, and a variety of other techniques. Resurrection Bay is another of the popular Silver Salmon mooching and trolling areas. Five Ways To First-Rate Alaska Fishing Halibut From A Houseboat: If you prefer to do your own thing, at your own pace, a houseboat may be just what you need on your Alaska fishing expedition. A variety of options are available, such as mooring in the Prince William Sound bay. The houseboat has all the amenities you need, while you have access to coastal Salmon, Halibut, or Rockfish. Alternatively opt for a houseboat-based Northern Pike trip on a tributary of the Yukon. The custom built boats don’t skimp on comfort and luxury, while moving with the season to ensure that you have access to impressive Northern Pikes. These Alaska fishing waters offer the perfect conditions for Pike performance, in terms of food, temperature, and water movement. Dream Catches From A Drift Boat: The Kasilof River, home of King Salmon, Reds, and Silver Salmon, provides the background music while you are floating down river on a drift boat. No outboard motor means no noise pollution - the beauty of Alaska fishing. With wildlife abounding in the area you pass through, you will have enough to occupy your mind while you are waiting for a nibble. Alaska fishing also offers guided drift boat adventures on the Upper Kenai. Catch and release Rainbow Trout and Dolly Varden, or stick with the specified quotas for Salmon. Reputable guides play by the rules, knowing that preservation ensures long term enjoyment of the splendid Alaskan wilds. With the Chugach National Forest keeping watch over the river, you will soon realize that there is no better trophy-trout fishing spot. Comfortable Charters Are Quite A Catch: Both for day trips, and evening tours, a charter is an Alaska fishing find for families. Salmon, Black Bass, Halibut, and Rockfish can be your quarry from the comfort of a charter boat. A few hours at night, or a lengthy day stint, exhibits Alaska fishing at its best. Some outfits even offer a water-taxi to cater for your family, while you enjoy undisturbed hours of exhilarating fishing fun. If you are a novice, there are more than enough help on board to get you hooked on fishing for life. You don’t even have to do the cleaning yourself! Additional services offered include arrangements to have your catch vacuum packed and frozen, ready for your trip home. Bunk Down For Bank Fishing: Make use of the spacious cabins Alaska fishing outfits have available, with easy access to bank fishing. King Salmon, Silvers, and Rainbow Trout are all within reach, depending on the season. As discussed in an article at Fishing-Things.com, the cabins are comfortably furnished, with some even offering satellite television! Once you set eyes on the Alaskan wilderness however, the box is sure to lose much of its attraction… Apart from the Kenai and Kasilof, the Moose and Swanson will test your technique. Fly In For Fly Fishing: Floatplanes ensure a unique introduction to the magic of Alaska fishing. Fly-outs are organized by many fishing outfits in the area, allowing you to reach remote regions that are otherwise inaccessible. The breathtaking Alaskan wilderness is a solitude haven, with vast, tranquil mountain lake areas, and streams that are home to Arctic Grayling, Rainbow Trout, and a number of salmon species. During August a popular destination is Cook Inlet’s west side for Dolly Varden and silvers. Most operators will provide spinning gear for use. If Kings give you a kick, the Nushagak river should be one of your stopping points. Make sure that you are equipped for sudden cold snaps or showers, double check your camera equipment, finalize fishing gear, and head out on your Alaska fishing trip. Some Things to Consider About Weight Loss Surgery

Sunday, May 18th, 2008

By Bill Healey Obesity is the fastest growing epidemic in the US today and is now the third leading killer of people behind heart disease and cancer. 30% of the population is obese, and 65% are overweight or obese. Its a chronic condition that is becoming increasingly difficult to treat. Lets face it, most diets fail, leaving many to turn to gastric surgery. The goal of this type of surgery is to cause a significant weight loss which will hopefully reduce obesity-related health problems, such as type-2 diabetes and high blood pressure. Surgeons use techniques that produce weight loss primarily by limiting how much the stomach can hold. Two types of surgical procedures used to promote weight loss are: Restrictive surgery - During this procedure, the stomach is made smaller. A section of your stomach is removed or closed which limits the amount of food it can hold and causes you to feel full. Malabsorptive surgery - Most food digestion and absorption takes place in the small intestine. Surgery to this area shortens the length of the small intestine and changes where it connects to the stomach, limiting the amount of food that is completely digested or absorbed. Surgery to produce weight loss is a serious undertaking. Before making a decision, talk to a doctor about the following benefits and risks: Benefits Weight loss - Following surgery, most patients will lose weight rapidly and continue to do for up to 18 to 24 months after the procedure. Although most patients start to regain a little of their lost weight, very few regain it all back. Obesity-related conditions improve - For example, blood sugar levels of diabetic obese patients returned to normal levels after surgery. Nearly all of these patients whose blood sugar levels did not return to normal were older or had it for a long time. Risks and Side Effects Vomiting - This is common with restrictive surgery. Its caused by the small stomach being overly stretched by food particles that are not chewed well. Dumping syndrome - Caused by malabsorptive surgery, the stomach contents move too rapidly through the small intestine. Its symptoms include nausea, weakness, sweating, faintness and diarrhea after eating. Nutritional deficiencies - Patients may develop nutritional deficiencies such as anemia, osteoporosis and metabolic bone disease. These deficiencies can be avoided if normal vitamin and mineral intakes are maintained. Complications - Some patients require follow-up operations in order to correct complications which can include abdominal hernias, infections, breakdown of the staple line and stretched stomach outlets. Gallstones - More than a third of obese patients develop gallstones after gastric surgery. During rapid or substantial weight loss a person’s risk of developing gallstones increases. They can be prevented with supplemental bile salts taken after surgery for six months. Need to temporarily avoid pregnancy - Women should avoid pregnancy until their weight becomes steady because rapid weight loss and nutritional deficiencies can harm the developing fetus. Side effects - Includes nausea, vomiting, bloating, diarrhea, excessive sweating, increased gas and dizziness. Lifestyle changes - Patients with extensive bypasses require not only close monitoring, but also life-long diet and exercise changes and vitamin and mineral supplementation, as well. It’s a great rule of thumb to be suspicious of quick and easy weight loss solutions. Seek the opinion of your doctor before following of any treatment and regiment. Only a doctor can provide you with advice on what is safe and most effective for you. Titanium Wedding Ring- for the Future and Forever

Friday, May 9th, 2008

By Sam Serio You can say “forever” with just one ring - if you will make it a titanium wedding ring. “Forever” doesn’t come with gold and a diamond, certainly - gold doesn’t convey enough of the permanence the word was made to represent. Even if you leave the diamond for some other piece of jewelry - like a necklace, an earring or even a brooch, a single titanium wedding ring would speak of a lifetime commitment all on its own. The chemical element Titanium (Ti) was named after the Titans, ancient mythological creatures who were more powerful than the Graeco-Roman gods. In fact, the Titans were supposed to have fathered some of the gods, who proceeded to grow in number. Think of titanium, then, as the father of all metals, which may be more popular than titanium… but at the same time inferior in integrity and strength. The metal titanium is corrosion-resistant, even against salt water and chlorine, which wear away most other metals. Titanium also has a high melting point, which means it can withstand high temperatures and drastic weather changes without becoming tarnished or misshapen. For this reason, titanium is not generated by ordinary casting methods, but by powder metallurgy. It is also often used as a refractory metal. The supremely resistant properties of the element would make a titanium wedding ring basically indestructible. In fact titanium is used for a variety of beauty and health care products. Some of the best eyewear in the world, for example, are made of titanium. These can be very expensive, but buyers will agree: the lifetime guarantee that comes with owning a titanium eyepiece is well worth every penny. Zirconium is very similar in composition to titanium, hence zirconium-titanium combinations are used for many pieces of jewelry. A zirconium gemstone would make an attractive set for a titanium wedding ring, as its look is very similar to that of the diamond. In fact, the oxide of zirconium is processed to create the cubic zirconia, which creates the diamond. Moreover, the titanium metal used for jewelry is hypoallergenic. Platinum and white gold are two other favorite choices for metals for the same reason. But if you’re shopping around for the best metals for a special gift, you just can’t go wrong with the strongest and most durable. Many have said that titanium shapes the future of art. In fact a 150-foot (45 m) statue of Yuri Gagarin, the first man in space, was made in Moscow, entirely of titanium! The ones who made the statue, as well as the ones who have gazed up at it, have no doubt that it will last forever. Your titanium wedding ring will certainly survive as long, and look no further if you want to prove that your love was made to last for all time Sam Serio is an Internet Marketer, musician, and writer on the subject of jewelry and gemstones. What Everyone Ought to Know About Acupuncture

Saturday, May 3rd, 2008

By Bonnie Koenig Acupuncture is one of the most popular forms of complementary medicine in the United States. Its safe. Its effective for a variety of conditions. Its relatively pain free. What else do you need to know before you try it? Acupuncture is taught at many colleges throughout the United States. The program is typically a masters level program and graduates then typically go on to take a national standardized test. California requires their own test rather than the national test. Once this test is taken, practitioners can apply to the state licensing board in the majority of states to become licensed. Acupuncture uses tiny needles. Acupuncture needles are more like pins than the syringes most people picture when they picture needles. Needles are most typically sterile and disposable. Many patients report that acupuncture is pain free. Most patients report that its incredibly relaxing. One patient described her treatment as feeling like she was having an internal massage. Acupuncture has been recognized by the National Institutes of Health for low back pain and the nausea caused by chemotherapy and pregnancy. The World Health Organization recognizes its efficacy in far more conditions, including all sorts of pain, headaches, womens health and stress. In the United States the majority of people seeking acupuncture for the first time are looking for pain relief. It is only after experiencing it that they begin to seek its assistance for a variety of internal health conditions, including gastric upset, menopausal symptoms and infertility. Patients must return for several visits before their condition clears up. Many people want a set number of visits, but its hard to guess. Most acupuncturists consider a course of treatment as 12 treatments. Most conditions take at least one course of treatment. Long term and chronic conditions may take more. Patients usually come at least once a week to begin with and then slowly taper off as their condition improves. Acupuncture has a broad range of applications and is a wonderful complementary medicine. More and more people in the United States are beginning to try it. Will you be one of them? Bonnie Koenig, LAc is a licensed acupuncturist in the state of Washington. Her website http://www.quantumlifestyles.com is devoted to answering many of the questions that patients may have about their first acupuncture visits. Additionally, she has developed an area for practitioners offering links to research articles and marketing information. Missing Persons Search

Thursday, May 1st, 2008

By Thomas Morva “Skip tracing” is one of the terms used in the business of finding missing people. Professional skip tracers allege to be able to locate anyone, by using a vast array of methods. Their major weapon is the social security trace. By using this method, skip tracers simply run the missing persons social security number through credit bureaus. They get back header files from the persons credit report. Header files can give a plethora of valuable information, including the missing persons full name, address, and information such as date of birth and current employment. Until recently, header files were deemed public information under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. However, the Graham, Leach Act limited their use to permissible purposes like insurance, business/investment transactions, employment and litigation. If given a permissible purpose and skip tracers have the knack of getting them - they can run the social security traces through phone or computer and find people in an instant, since almost everyone uses credit these days. In rare cases, where the skip tracer does not have the missing persons social security number, a national identifier search is used. This method employs the last-known name and address of the missing person. Thus, the skip tracer’s secret is to find people using credit bureaus’ files. However, not everyone is given this permission. You have to have a valid account with a well-known credit bureau; and credit bureaus generally only open accounts for particular types of businesses, like information professionals. You may hire the services of information professionals to do the job, but it comes with a fee. Missing Persons provides detailed information on Missing Persons, Missing Persons Search, Find Missing Person, Missing Persons List and more. Missing Persons is affiliated with Types of Ghosts.
